Ethical rules, such as yamas and nyamas, are the foundation for removing obstacles and a prerequisite for unleashing creativity. They are about creating win/win situations in our interactions with the world. Ethical rules permeate every successful and long-lasting human endeavor and are the core values of leadership. We find them in ancient sacred texts, in Yoga Sutras, in the Declaration of Independence, in the HP Way and in President Johnson’s rules. When taken to the heart, they help to achieve a shift in perception to discover the good in everything and in everyone. This is the starting point for removing obstacles: instead of focusing on what we do not want, including enemies and diseases, we focus on what we want to achieve and obstacles always disappear. Henry Ford captured admirably this shift in consciousness: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.”
We study and apply ethical rules until they become second nature. To move away from the dualistic “us and them” mentality, we can practice Mettā meditation. In essence, we learn to remove obstacles by increasing gradually the degree of difficulty. This changes our perception of reality. By learning to love everybody, we learn to love ourselves. This is a prerequisite for deep healing and radiant health.
Discovering the good within us is the starting point for improving our own health naturally. It helps to discover what made us sick in the first place. The first step in natural healing is to stop doing what made us sick. The second step is to start doing what can improve your health. - Drink only filtered water and natural herbal teas, which help hydrate our bodies and remove toxins. Avoid tap water, soft drinks, coffee, alcohol.
- Drink at least one glass of fresh juice every day. We can use any vegetables and fruits, and preferably organic. Increase the quantity of juice gradually, if you have sensitivities. Buy a juicer, if you do not have one.
- Eat only whole foods and avoid processed foods. The most powerful way to heal diseases, detoxify and build your body is with a plant-based diet. A Vitamix is a great tool to help us achieve this goal.

- Start a daily relaxation and meditation practice, which reduces the frequency of our brain waves. This helps to clarify priorities and our purpose in life.
- Start to put order in every aspect of our lifes by revisiting periodically major goals and priorities. Eliminate physical clutter and mental clutter will disappear as well.
Some of the above steps may initially look difficult, even impossible, while other steps may look easy. We start with the easy steps and, as we master them, the difficult steps will become approachable. This is the magic of action guided by persistence and flexibility.
