Why Yoga?

We can choose freedom from fear, suffering and degeneration by taking responsibility of our life. Ancient wisdom helps us see beyond the limitations of reductionist science. The old masters tell us that inner strength, cheerfulness, and selfless service are the basic principles of life. If the pursuit of happiness is the goal of life, yoga shows us how to get there by gaining freedom from all fears and by becoming aware of the reality within. We bring together the timeless yoga wisdom and modern science to enhance our lives:

  • We start by removing obstacles that prevent natural healing, the manifestation of our true creative potential, and living with a purpose. We master control by following traditional “don’ts and do’s“ ethical rules, such as yamas and nyamas, updated for our current lifestyle. Our lifestyle departs more and more from nature. This highlights the importance of mastering control to avoid excesses: anything in excess changes its quality and may become an obstacle. Excesses create dependencies and automatic behaviors, a major source of bondage, suffering and degeneration. Yoga meets the organic movement, the Price-Pottenger Foundation, energy medicine, building biology and the 2012 Bioinitiative Report.
  • Asana practice challenges existing automatic behaviors, promotes continuous learning, and stimulates adaptability. We tune into the body by developing kinesthetic awareness. Yoga meets neuroscience.
  • Conscious breathing is the main tool to strengthen the mind-body connection and gain control of our autonomic nervous system. In turn, this regulates the endocrine system. Yoga meets biofeedback.
  • Meditation techniques lower the brainwaves, still the mind, enhance visualization capabilities and stimulate imagination.  We learn to see reality from multiple perspectives and we reprogram our subconscious mind. We also learn persistence and dealing with adversity and obstacles. Yoga meets cognitive sciences.
  • Finally, we integrate the above synergistic techniques and take them beyond the mat.  We build enthusiasm by focusing on what we want to accomplish, supported by what we already achieved. With a definite purpose, persistence and flexibility, obstacles become opportunities and possibilities are endless. Are you ready?
